my undertale headcanons
Ok first, before i get into my headcanons, i just wanted to get something out of the way: i do not believe that monsters in undertale canonically cannot/dont bleed. as far as i am aware, not only is it never stated, but sans is also not the only monster in undertale who bleeds (toriel betrayal kill). also the only evidence used for this (that i know of) is that one kid in deltarune who asks what its like to be made of blood (even though everyone accepts that monsters in deltarune bleed) and the fact that in battles you only see the monster dust, not bleed. these are, in my humble opinion, not anywhere near good enough evidence to support something this widespread and believed to be canon. no hate if you believe it! buuuuuttt i do believe that there is no good basis for this belief. ok, now my headcanons!
soul traits: there is no determination trait. ive belived this for a whiiillleee and the only time ive ever heard anyone ever agree is when subzeroturnip posted their demons in the dark theory. anyways. i believ that the red soul is a symbol of the player's control/corruption. it may even just be corruption, whether the player is involved or the human with the trait has done something to try to override their original trait or just gotten to be that fucked up of a person. anyways, there's six soul traits: justice, patience, perseverance (aka the actual determination trait), integrity, kindness, and bravery. also i think chara's soul trait was justice, and their soul got corrupted by the player. this ties into a different headcanon, which is the only reason i bring it up right now.
narrachara and other narrators: i do really like and believe in narrator chara theory, and i have for the majority of my five years in this fandom. tbh i dont really remember much of anything of the theory, but yknow. anyways. i think that, depending on the soul trait, a different ghost (narrator) will appear. for instance, if frisk had had a kindness soul, they would have been joined by the fallen human with the kindness soul (or not since their soul was corrupted...). idk if this make a lot of since tbh... but i think its a really fun idea. a kid with a justice soul falls and theyre joined by clover or something.
skeleton monsters: skeleton monsters aren't the same as human skeletons. sure, theres no reason to believe this at all, but i refuse to believe that if undertale existed in real life, sans would look like a normal skeleton. that greatly disturbs me. no, instead i think that the 'real life' version of sans would be more like the poopshitters meme. does that make sense? idk. but yeah sans and papyrus would be sans and papyrus shaped and not human shaped.
sans shape: ok i stole this from someone else lol. anyways if you check out their post that's pretty much what i believe as well. (because of them). if you dont wanna go onto tumblr, its basically that skeletons have magic that acts as fats and muscles and stuff but only shows when they put clothes on, other than that there's nothing there lol. if you were to try and touch it or something, you would phase through, bc it only exists for clothes. i really like this because i despise ecto bodies and stuff like that. no hate to anyone who likes those though! some of that art is really cute :3
monster categories: i formulated this before seeing it, but someone else made a post thats kinda that same thing on tumblr, so you can check it out here! anyways, mine is a biiittt different. boss monsters are a category, but theyre not really anything super specific or anything, its just a term used to refer to the immortals. which have their own headcanon but thats not for right now! but thats not for here. also monsters can be in multiple categories. ok. so i think they would first category based off of whether the monster is an animalistic (furry), elemental, item-eqsue (like what mad mew mew is now that she's possessed the doll, or robots, or the dummy. ofc you can also say that theyre still ghosts.), humanoids (like skeletons), and miscellanious (think of jerry or ice cap). there are sub-categories for the animalistic monsters: there are mammalian, reptillion, whatever you would call the fish (icthus-ish? pesc-something????), and insectivion. Theyre then divided into carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore. finally, the boss monsters. a boss monster can be any classification/combo of classifications of monster. a boss monster is an immortal, identified by their abnormal strentgh and determination. the monsters sort themselves into categories for easy identification and healthcare reasons.
boss monsters/immortals: boss monsters are immortals. obviously, when they have children, they give their immortality to said children and become mortals (and their children are now immortal). why are there immortal monsters? well. at the veeerrryyyy beginning of the world, the world was perfect, and everyone was immortal. but then shit happened (what it is you can decide, i go with the christian beliefs personally) and that immortality was lost. but! since monsters are purer beings than humans, some were allowed to keep their immotal status on the condition that they would pass that immortality down to their children and become mortal. that, or, the monsters are the undertale equivalent of the fae and the immortals are the leaders or descendants of the leaders. i know im just making shit up but i really like these ideas lol
gerson boom and other boss monsters: i dont think that only toriel and asgore are boss monsters. gerson is the obvious other choice, but i also think that undyne is one. solely because of her determination in the genocide route. since boss monster souls last longer after death then normal monsters, i think they have more determination, and therefore undyne having a fuck-ton of determination would be an indicator that she is a boss monster. funny story about this- for the longest time i thought all the bosses you meet in undertale (like papyrus and mettaton) were boss monsters. i dont believe this anymore though.
theories
to be added later (i dont theorize a lot)
for now have my shitpost theories for deltarune
burger pants knight: hehehe ok. so. this is a great chance for me to post my favorite knight theory without getting laughed at. so. we all know burger pants, from hit indie game Undertale, right? well. did you know he exists in Deltarune too? yeh, we think they're named pizza pants atm but really all anyone knows about this loser is that hes a total freak. like, Mr egg from get fatter now levels of freak, and since he got his nickname in Undertale from stuffing his pants full of burgers to give these random girls in an alley, we can definiteively say that he would cause the roaring if he thought hed get a gf. ok, wait, you say. he's under the impression he has one already. yeah? well, what if I told you, he knows that pizzarina is FAKE! yeah, that's right. he knows, and bc he knows, he wants to get his revenge on everyone. but how will he do that? by corrupting into a being of pure darkness, the knight, and causing the roaring. but! he doesn't look like the knight... well, sure, but have you ever seen those two in the same room? no. beings of pure darkness (like the knight!) can shapeshift, and colors of people between the light and dark worlds can change, so obviously, hes just shapeshifting and changing his color to hide his identity. of course, when he brings about the end of the world, he'll take off the helmet (which we know is a helmet obscuring jockington's face btw) and go on a classic villain spiel about his evil plan. and jockington? yeh the reason hes going all goner-y is because he's in cahoots with burgerpants/pizzapants, whose real name is Mike btw. jockington is secretly trying to help Kris, Carol, and asgore to take down the knight by feeding them major misinformation about how things even work. but in the process of "helping" the knight, jockington has been forced to do weird experiments with dark fountains, since MIKE (burgerpants) is besties with gaster, and gaster needs to be freed from the depths in order to be able to help burgerpants get to the same level of existence as gaster and create his own world where people wont catfish him. okokok, so we've got that out of the way, but there's still some questions... why does the helmet have antlers? what about the song of the sea? why did he manipulate spamton? WELL WELL WELL, my dear friend, those! are all! wonderful! and I have answeres! the helmet has antlers in order to derail the fandoms (and characters in-game) theory-crafting! much like that one time where Alex hirsch did the same thing! burgerpants knight theory has gotten way too well known and accepted and tricky tony has started to sweat... the song of the sea is actually dess trying to lure people to the depths to save her, but since the depths is actually hell and shes dead, this is just causing people to die. and finally, Mike didn't manipulate spamton! he was just hallucinating the whole thing, and tenna didn't realize it! I mean, everyone knows that the only noise on the phone is garbage noise! anywayysss.... here's my personal idea of the timeline, according to this theory. first, Mike (burger pants) turned off the internet in order to isolate hometown. then, he opened a fountain in the school as a test to see if he could. then, he opened his first real one in the librarby, to try and convince the darkness that he was the good guy (he failed). kris opened the ch3 one bc they needed to be able to capture undyne for Mike (burger pants) to sacrifice in the bunker. also bc Kris is genuinely evil and on mike's (burgerpants') side (they don't know about the others trying to stop Mike (burgerpants)). Mike has to sacrifice undyne as a part of a mesopotamian reviving ritual in order to get gaster, aka Satan, to come up out of hell. the titan only happened bc Mike (burger pants) doesn't like to be told what to do, in ch5 theyre going to open a ton and murder jockington bc they know that he was liead to about how fountains and dark worlds work.(ooc idk how legible or convincing or even how consistent that is but that's my submission! the idea came from my younger brother lol, everything else was me. also you can use this for whatever you want to as long as you credit! please let me know if I broke any rules or something...)
papyrus dead theory: papyrus fell down the stairs and fucking died. thats why when you go to his and sans' house in ch2 you here a trousle of bones and why the next time you here nothing. also when he landed (and died), since he's made of bones, and since hes full of determination, he made a dark fountain so papyrus is dead and not in deltarune but there is an evil dustner of him because the knight doesnt like that he made a fountain and goes and closes it and then makes a new one and they didnt know him so its an evil version of him.
