vessel
Sans stared in disbelief at what Wings had brought home. It looked like a human, but last they had checked, humans didn’t have four pairs of wings… Or grey skin. Or a tail? Wings had introduced them as Vessel. That was weird too, humans didn’t usually name their kids Vessel. At least according to history books and internet sources.
Vessel stared back at Sans, or at least Sans thought they did. They didn’t have normal eyes either, they had weird triangular looking ones that floated around its head. Maybe they were a hybrid? Part human, part monster? Angelic monsters existed, and hybrids weren't unheard of, but… Hybrids between humans and monsters nowadays were impossible with the humans trapped underground and all. But— the only other options were mermaids and those just didn't match up… Wings had told them that they couldn’t tell anybody about Vessel.
This was not anywhere close to what Sans had been expecting to come home to. They had planned to return to their room, hop online, and go over their collection of articles on Mt. Ebbot, humans, and disappearances in the area. See if anything had changed, see about finding more, try to find the most accurate ones even though they had already been over them enough times to figure that out…
But now they were supposed to keep an eye-socket on this weird Vessel creep. Woop-de-doo, how fun. Just what they wanted— someone new to interact with. No escaping into their home now, no locking themself in their room, because now they were expected to share it! With some freak Wings had found in the woods!
It was better than giving Pap's room to them, though. Sans might just climb the mountain themself if Vessel had defiled that sacred place. Not that they weren't already considering it— they'd been considering and planning and almost doing it since Paps first disappeared, but… they couldn't leave Wings alone. He would never make it.
Back onto the topic of Vessel— what the hell was it doing here? Alone out in the middle of the woods, claiming to have amnesia or something, and acting like they had never seen anything like grass or trees before. Were they from the Underground? That would make sense, but Sans was sure that there were plants under there. Some rando on Reddit said so, anyways. The way the Vessel acted, it was as though all they'd ever known was water. They recognized it, and feared it. Overall, strange. Suspicious, even.
While sans had been deep in though, Vessel had walked away. Panic shot through them as they found Vessel fiddling around with their computer.
"No! Don't touch that! That's private. Ask before you start messing with people's stuff." Sans growled, quickly moving to jerk the laptop out of Vessel's hands and set it carefully on their desk.
"Why?" Vessel asked, voice emotionless and slightly echoing. They tilted their head a little, the wings on top of it resembling antennae when they moved.
"It's rude." Sans answered, unnerved.
"Sorry. I must try not to be rude anymore, correct?"
"Yeah, being rude is generally considered a bad thing…"
"You are named Sans, correct?"
Sans blinked. "Yes? Why?"
"It is always wise to double check information. That way you can avoid falsehoods." Vessel smiled.
"…sure." This kid was weird.
Sans turned away from them and moved to start digging through their closet. As of right now, somebody was going to have to sleep on the floor, and it was Sans' responsibility to make sure it was comfortable.
"What are you doing?" Vessel's voice came from right above Sans' shoulder, and they flinched at the sudden sound.
"Grabbing blankets to make a sleeping palet with." They explained. "You're probably gonna end up on the floor, so I'm setting up a space for you to be comfortable."
"Would it not be simpler to keep the blankets in the closet floor?"
"Uhm… yeah, but that won't really be comfortable…"
"Yes it will. I like enclosed spaces." Vessel stepped around Sans into the closet and began pulling the few blankets there were into the floor and arranging a little nest. Sans watched curiously. There were only three blankets, not counting what Sans was holding, so despite being twisted around and piled on top of each other in the small closet floor, it felt thin to them. They handed the fourth blanket down.
"I'll be right back, Vessel. Don't touch anything else." Sans left the room to see what they could steal from the hall closet. There were several more blankets, thank the stars, and quite a few pillows. Sans grabbed all they could and took it back to Vessel. Then they went back and grabbed more pillows. When all was said and done, it looked fairly comfy. Sans was almost jealous.
